#11: See a Burlesque Show

#11: See a Burlesque Show

CAUTION: pasties and tassels ahead!

Last night was a frisky, feather-filled fantasy at the 15th Annual New York Burlesque Festival here in New York! Although I've always been intrigued by the naughty art form of burlesque, I've never actually attended a show - which is how it ended up on the Birthday Bucketlist - and, after 25 performances, 167 nipple pasties, 15 butt-tassels ("assels") and hours of laughter I can honestly say that was one helluvan introduction!

My friend Tara and I braved the absurd lines at B.B. King's Blues Club & Grill in Times Square and finally secured our spot in the club. The good news: we got a table. The bad news: it was FAR from the stage. So my photos absolutely sucked. Sigh. So I've decided to highlight a few of my favorite performers from last night with photo credit to those who got better snaps than I did.

Ok?

Bring on the skin!!

The pic above is mine, a fabulously rowdy chorus line teaming the girls from Ruby Revue with the night's MC, Murray Hill. The pic below is of gorgeous Missy Lisa in all her crimson glory! Shake those tail feathers, beauty!

I absolutely adored brilliantly-talented and crazy-sexy Angie Pontani, dubbed the "Italian Stallionette"! Sadly I didn't snag any good pics of her "little runaway" performance but I did manage to find this gem from last year's show!

The below is a captivating performance by French burlesque performer Mara de Nudée.

The photo below is mine and I didn't catch the name of the performer...but she was stunning!

International burlesque performer Michelle L'amour killed it last night with her cobalt fringe adding a swish here, a peek there, and a ton of drama! LOVED it!!

There were soooooo many outstanding moments from last night's experience - some elegant, some odd, some eyebrow raising, and all brilliant. Not only am I inspired to attend MANY more burlesque shows but maybe, just maybe, you'll catch me gracing the doors of the New York School of Burlesque to take my own tassels for a spin!
